Ep 2 Ghost of the Past

Update 2026: Just a heads-up—I haven’t remastered this specific episode yet. Because of that, the voices and production style will sound noticeably different compared to the updated episodes, which I know might be a bit disconcerting! I’m dedicated to giving you the best possible listening experience, so I am systematically updating these early episodes. This one will be overhauled as soon as possible, but in the meantime, enjoy the time capsule. Sorry for any confusion!
Three hours of sleep. One experimental energy drink (my first and absolutely my last). And a manic, stubborn streak wide enough to drive a quad hover-bike through.
That is the exact state I was in when finishing Episode 2 of the Podcast
I don’t highly recommend the method, but sometimes sheer bloody-mindedness is the only thing that drags a universe out of the fog in your head and into something you can actually share with the world. Despite the sleep deprivation, I’m incredibly proud of how it turned out.
Kudos where it’s due: my resident AI, GNoM, and Gemini both helped immensely to untangle plot knots, crush mental blocks, and provide much-needed comic relief right when I was on the verge of smashing my keyboard. Without them, I don’t think I’d have crossed the finish line.
A Site on the Move 🌐
In the absolute middle of all that production chaos, I also decided it was the perfect time to migrate this entire site away from its long-time WordPress home over to Publii, an open-source website builder.
Why? Because I wanted a change—and frankly, I prefer it. It lets me get exactly what I want. The site feels so much lighter now, especially with the graphics. Sure, there are still a few spacing quirks left to iron out, but it already feels like a much better fit. It's faster, cleaner, and crucially, less of a technical headache.
Fresh Out of the Oven (Literally) 🎧
I’ll be honest: I only finished editing the new episode about 15 minutes before uploading it. I completely redid the entire thing twice, and half the cuts I made in Logic Pro were things I was learning entirely on the fly. But it flows, it sounds properly professional, and it’s the kind of episode I can actually stand back from and say: Yeah, that’s ours.
What’s Inside Episode 2? 🎋
This one has a bit of absolutely everything crammed into it:
Remus’s Battle Memory: A seven-foot war panda trying to keep jumpy rookies alive until it’s finally time for bamboo fries and an ice-cold Bamboozer.
Cold Hard Stats: McWordy crunches the numbers on our growing audience (“Approximately 20 humans and one very slow sloth in South America…”).
Aric’s Meltdown: Complete with emergency biscuits and a giant cinnamon bun covered in pink icing.
Songs & Interstellar Ads: Featuring singing Greys, moon unicorn droppings (functions as both a fertilizer and a dessert topping), and the HX-9 Hover Quad (“If it’s not hovering between your legs, you’re doing it wrong”).
Professor Highbrain’s Lecture: A crash course on the Deadheart Realm, Lady Deadheart’s defiance, and why Tuskars are basically just cosmic playground bullies.
The Studio Phone Rings: And whatever is on the other end of the line... it isn't good.
So, if you want a proper laugh—or just want to sit completely bemused for a little over 30 minutes—give it a listen. And if you like what you hear, please share it on your socials, or just shout about it over the garden fence! 😂
